The Emirates Stadium team continuously receives not very positive information in the transfer market.
As revealed by journalist Fabrizio Romano, in fact, Arsenal has been implementing a plan to recruit a central striker since October, with the primary goal of acquiring Dusan Vlahovic right in the winter market.
Currently, the Serbian striker is leading the list of Serie A top scorers with 17 goals, and is considered by experts as one of the best strikers in Europe. So Vlahovic will certainly become a quality addition to the Gunners.
However, up to this point, there is still no sign that Arsenal will get Vlahovic anytime soon. It even seems that this striker is completely not considering the prospect of joining the Gunners. Revealing to La Nazione recently, Fiorentina director Joe Barone implicitly admitted that Vlahovic has no intention of joining Arsenal:
“Several English clubs have contacted Fiorentina, but have not yet reached any agreement and cannot reach an agreement if someone… [not negotiating] ,” Barone was quoted as saying by Futaa.
“In any case, we are ready (to sell Vlahovic). The clubs in England want him, but obviously, Vlahovic has other ideas. We are ready, but he is. and my agent will not negotiate.”
“There has been no contact from the player himself or his agent, although I have asked them to clarify their wishes.”
After the revelations from Barone, perhaps Arsenal should also forget about Vlahovic and focus on finding a quality alternative. Because now, they are facing the prospect of losing another backup target.
“The Corinthians are pushing to complete the contract of Diego Costa in the next few hours. They are close to an oral agreement – still waiting for details and a final answer from the Brazilian striker.”, reporter Fabrizio Romano revealed.
“They have made the best offer so far. There are no talks with Arsenal.”
Earlier, many sources simultaneously confirmed that Arsenal had targeted Diego Costa in the event that Vlahovic could not be recruited, a completely right move considering what Costa could bring to the Emirates. However, now it seems that the Gunners have ‘lost both their lead and fishing’, and Arteta will face a difficult problem if he wants to upgrade the Gunners’ attack as soon as January.
